"When people are focused on one thing, they might not see something else that’s intriguing."

With my photography, I invite viewers to “take a second look” because they see a new perspective, something unexpected, or something compelling. I try to present details that people will want to stop and notice. In life, we don’t have—or don’t take—the opportunity to do so often enough.

Black and white encourages me to find balance with each shot, and I look for subjects that lend themselves well to this approach. The shadow and complex interplay of landscapes provide many chances, as do immovable cityscapes.

With animals, pets, and people, I explore the convergence of beauty, reality, and the “wear and tear” that is the inevitable result of life.

Reflections—as with chrome—provide an intriguing element of surprise, as unintended images are sometimes captured in these shots. Water also offers unexpected results in its various forms of vapor, ice, liquid, and snow.

With all of my photographs, I want viewers to have the sense that they wish they were there, if for no other reason than to take a closer look. I hope that my work draws people in and provides convincing depth.
